Wounds Australia update
On Tuesday 16.8.2020, AWMA Vic held our latest Twilight education evening, with over 200 delegates in attendance either at the RMH site or livestreaming from one of our 17 regional sites. The night was a huge success, with an excellent presentation by MIVIR Sonographer, Martin Forbes. The feedback has been exceptional and my sincere thanks to Martin for this thought provoking and enlightening session and to the wonderful AWMA Vic committee for all of the work that goes in behind the scenes to bring nights like these together.
Prior to the commencement of the education evening, it was with both sadness and pride that AWMA Vic ,in conjunction with Stephen Dean, announced the recipient of the Inaugural Sandy Dean memorial grant. It is such an honour for AWMA Vic to remember Sandy through this grant and we were truly humbled to have Sandys husband Stephen and their two sons, Mathew and Lucas joining us for the presentation. Sandys legacy provided the foresight to recognise the importance of supporting members to enhance their professional development through education and networking with other professionals particularly through attendance at major conferences. The Sandy Dean Memorial Grant is aimed at supporting members to attend a State or International conference in the field of wound management to promote the networking and professional development Sandy was so very passionate about.

An inspirational colleague friend and mentor
It was an honour for us to have Stephen present the grant to the recipient, Jennifer Pattinson, who will be using the grant to attend the Wounds Australia conference in November 2016. Jenny is an ANUM and Stomal therapist at SJOG Bendigo and is passionate about making a difference in wound care and providing a service of excellence to her patients as well as supporting and educating her colleagues in wound management. On behalf of AWMA Vic and the Dean family, I would like to congratulate Jenny and wish her all the very best for the conference.
