Australia’s bid for the WUWHS Congress 2016
The Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) together with the New Zealand Wound Care Society (NZWCS) is committed and passionate about jointly co-hosting the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WHWHS) Congress in 2016.
We have established a dedicated website to provide further information about our bid, our association and other related associations, along with information about our proposed host destination - Brisbane, Australia.
AWMA is the peak body for wound management in the Australian region. In line with our strategic direction, AWMA plans to host an international scientific meeting for wound management within the next ten years. The Wound Management Innovation Cooperative Research Centre (WMI CRC) has over $100 million of funding for basic and clinical wound management research, and with AWMA as a partner, highlights the high profile that wound management has in our region.
A WUWHS Congress jointly hosted by AWMA and NZWCS will not only highlight the science and practice of wound management but also offer affordable on-ground costs in a unique location and an opportunity to increase and consolidate membership of the WUWHS in the Asia Pacific region.
A major priority of AWMA is to provide resources and expertise to enable less developed nations to up national wound care associations, and to encourage stronger collaboration and partnership with developed nations. Our recent Pan Pacific Forum on pressure and venous leg ulcers, launching our regional clinical practice guidelines, and our inaugural Asia Pacific issue of our journal, Wound Practice and Research, are just some examples of our increasing regional partnerships.
My role as Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Bid Committee for the WUWHS Congress 2016 is to draw together this expertise to develop a world class proposal for this meeting to be held in Brisbane. We encourage you to take ten minutes to browse this website as well as have a look at the fly through DVD on Brisbane. We look forward to presenting our bid to you in Yokohama and expanding on the strengths of having this meeting here in 2016. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions.
With best wishes,
