Wounds Australia update

As you are aware, AWMA Vic voted at the last AGM to join our National organisation Wounds Australia. You may also wonder why we are still referring to the Victorian branch as AWMA?

There has been a significant amount of work being done by the Wounds Australia board to guide the State and Territory associations in the wind up procedure and while this may appear to be a slow process, it is one that needs to have the time taken to ensure we have a clear framework on which to build the future of the organisation.

As a registered charitable organisation, AWMA Vic are not able to dissolve until our assets are dispersed to Wounds Australia and as the board works on a budget that will allow Victorian to be both sustainable and offer our members ongoing access to existing opportunities, we are consolidating funds as our investments mature. We are increasingly close to achieving the dissolution our members have voted on and we thank you for your patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.

We continue to work with the board of Wounds Australia and while this is a significant piece of work, you will also be aware that things are moving in other pillars of Wounds Australia, particularly around grants and scholarships. I would encourage you to consider applying for the funding that has now been made available Nationally as well as that available in Victoria.

The committee is also working tirelessly alongside the Wounds Australia conference organising committee to bring you ‘The State of Play’ Inaugural Wounds Australia conference to be held in Melbourne 9-12 November 2016. The programme is very exciting and this is a great opportunity not only to hear National and International speakers of the highest calibre with the latest in wound management, but to showcase our beautiful capital and surrounding areas. Why not consider applying for a grant or scholarship to attend the conference?

On behalf of AWMA(Vic) (Soon to be Wounds Australia Vic) I would like to sincerely thank you for your support and understanding while we continue to evolve
