Inaugural Venous Leg Ulcer Consensus Meeting
The Australian Wound Management Association conducted the Open Forum for the Inaugural Venous Leg Ulcer (VLU) Consensus Meeting, held in Perth on 6 September, 2005. The meeting was attended by over 90 people, representing nursing, medical, allied health, industry and consumers with a special interest in leg ulcers.
|
Speakers and panel members included: Mrs Jenny Prentice AWMA President, A/Professor Michael Woodward AWMA Vice President, Professor John Fletcher, A/Professor Keryln Carville, Professor Gary Sibbald (Canada), and Professor Helen Edwards.
The meeting confirmed by majority view the three consensus statements put forward. Subsequent to the Forum the AWMA committee will establish a subcommittee whose responsibility it will be to develop a business plan to progress the development of guidelines for the assessment, management and treatment of venous leg ulcers.
The following documents provide a synopsis of the meeting, as well as the consensus statements and AWMA's role in developing the VLU Guidelines.
